We're saving bikes from being crushed.

Rescue Bikes is a Tallinn-based circular-economy company that recovers, refurbishes, and resells abandoned bicycles, with a parallel pilot launching in Stockholm in Q3 2026.

Our story

It started with one abandoned bike on a Kalamaja street.

In 2024, our founder Rafi watched the city tow a perfectly good steel-framed commuter from the corner of his block. Frame straight. Tires holding air. A €30 fix away from being someone's daily ride.

That bike · and a hundred others like it every month · was on its way to a scrap yard in Maardu.

So we started asking questions. How many bikes get abandoned each year in Tallinn? (Answer: over 4,000.) How many get refurbished and resold? (Answer: almost none.)

We don't have a bike shortage in this city. We have a recovery problem. So we built the recovery system.
· Rafi, founder

Today, Rescue Bikes works with the city, the police, partner repair shops, universities, and refugee NGOs to recover, refurbish, and redistribute bikes.

Manufacturing a new bike emits roughly 250kg of CO₂. Every bike we put back on the road is a bike that doesn't get built. That's 450 tonnes of CO₂ kept out of the atmosphere.

We're a small team in a workshop in Telliskivi, Tallinn. Three mechanics, two community organisers, and a founder who still does most of the recovery runs personally.

What we believe

Six things we don't compromise on.

The non-negotiables that shape every decision.

01

An offer worth saying yes to.

If someone has to think about whether to buy, we haven't made the offer right.

02

Give before you ask.

Free bikes. Free workshops. Free maps. The give always comes before the ask.

03

The bike is honest.

Public refurbishment video on every bike. Real serial number. If something's wrong, we tell you.

04

Volume beats luck.

30 short-form pieces a week. 100 outreach DMs. Output is the kill switch on uncertainty.

05

Every avatar gets a path.

Students get Tier 0. Tinkerers get Tier 1. Commuters get Tier 2. Premium riders get Tier 3.

06

Charge what funds the mission.

Tier 2 holds at €120 because that's what funds the warranty, bonuses, and free bikes.

Where we ride

Tallinn first. Stockholm next. Then everywhere abandoned bikes pile up.

Every northern European capital has the same problem.
